The Library Media Center is an all-around information, technology, and media resource center for students and staff. It includes:
  • main library
  • computer lab
  • reference room (can be used for group study sessions)
The library is an ideal place for doing research, finding recreational reading, using computers, creating multi-media reports and projects, exploring careers, studying, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing chess (!) and more. Students have access to print and media resources, including:
  • books
    • reference
    • non-fiction
    • fiction
  • current magazines
  • newspapers
    • Paradise Post
    • Chico Enterprise Record
  • computer lab (iMac lab installed summer of '09)includes:
    • MS Office 2008 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • EBSCO-a high-powered full-text periodical database for student research
    • Student accounts where they can save their work to their own private folders
The PUSD librarian, Ms. Safarik, is also available to aid students in their research tasks.  She is trained in helping the students learn how to: research effectively, evaluate information, and present that information.  Our goal here at PHS is to create independent, critical thinkers.  Ms. Safarik is always more than happy to help in this pursuit!
