The Library Media Center is an all-around information, technology, and
media resource center for students and staff. It includes:
- main library
- computer lab
- reference room (can be used for group study sessions)
The library is an ideal place for doing research, finding recreational
reading, using computers, creating multi-media reports and projects,
exploring careers, studying, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing chess (!)
and more. Students have access to print and media resources, including:
- books
- reference
- non-fiction
- fiction
- current magazines
- newspapers
- Paradise Post
- Chico Enterprise Record
- computer lab (iMac lab installed summer of '09)includes:
- MS Office 2008 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- EBSCO-a high-powered full-text periodical database for student research
- Student accounts where they can save their work to their own private folders
The PUSD librarian, Ms. Safarik, is also available to aid students in their research tasks. She is trained in helping the students learn how to: research effectively, evaluate information, and present that information. Our goal here at PHS is to create independent, critical thinkers. Ms. Safarik is always more than happy to help in this pursuit!

Look Up Books, Renew Books, Place Holds On Books
- look up books here
- renew books here (go to "My Library Info" tab at top of page)
- place hold on books here (look up book, if out, click on "place hold")
Circulation
-Books may be checked out for 3 weeks (a 0.10¢ per school day late fee will be charged for overdue books)
-Reference materials may only be used in the library (encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference books, etc.)
How Do I Decide WHAT to Read?
- Check out our online library card catalog (Sagebrush Infocentre) and do a keyword search.
- Browse the list that comes up and click on the titles that look interesting to see more detail.
- While still in the detail view, click on the subjects (blue links) to see other books in that subject as well.
- Write down the call letters of the titles that look interesting to you
(located below the title).
