About Us

Paradise High is a comprehensive public school , grades 9-12, with an enrollment of approximately 1,580 students. Established in 1956, Paradise High school has a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence.

PHS PTSO Minutes
Thursday May 1, 2008
Minutes taken by Carla Haigh 

Present: Carla Haigh, Stephanie Gregorio, Kathy Trevino, Mike Lerch, Phoebe Hartt, Beverly Hayes, Judith Peters, Teresa Kennebeck and Linda Davis-Reed.

Meeting called to order at 4:02 p.m. Minutes were read and approved.

Principal Report: Mr. Lerch has received a list of the top six community service/senior project reports as decided by PHS teachers. A PTSO committee will review and choose the top three to each receive a $100.00 check. The committee consists of Judith Peters, Linda Davis-Reed and Carla Haigh. Any other PTSO members are also welcome.
            PUSD principals received their training for the “ConnectEd” automated phone system April 30th. This system will be used for emergencies and other important information needing to get to students and their families. The auto dialer will still be used for attendance, meeting announcements and other non-urgent information.
            The class schedules for 2008-2009 school year are in process. There is an estimated 372 incoming Freshman.

Treasurer Report: This school year we have had $540.00 in membership donations. There has been $477.95 in expenditures for Academic Awards refreshments, a donation to Peer Counseling and a donation to “A Walk for Disease Control” in which each school in PUSD will participate. Current balance $1820.04, we still have $300.00 to go to our community service winners.

New Business: Nominations were made and votes counted for the PTSO 2008-2009 Board members. President is Linda Davis-Reed, Vice President is Judith Peters, Secretary is Beverly Hayes and Treasurer is Carla Haigh.

Old Business: A new PTSO membership form has been reviewed and minor changes made. Carla will make the changes and get it to Mr. Lerch for final review before printing. This form will be included in the student packages given out on the first day of school.
            We are planning to do a Round Table Pizza night in September to help raise funds for PTSO. Coupons will be given out at Back to School night, printed in the Bobcat News and other occasions.
            Linda has spoken with Chris B. regarding additional campus clean-up for the coming school year. He would like us to clean the front area of the school as we did this year, possibly classroom desks and other areas in need to be determined.

Announcements: No school Monday, May 26th, Prom is May 10th, Graduation is May 29th, sign-up deadline for SAT 1 & 2 scheduled for June 7th is May 6th and sign-up deadline for ACT scheduled for June 14th is May 9th.
